Balancing tourism and nature

It was back to my native region in the Alps for this report on tourism, environment protection and how they (don't) go together.

A Tyrolean European

Topics discussed ranged from mega-trucks over ACTA to how Europeans perceive Europe as I joined Green MEP Eva Lichtenberger for a day in her Inn valley constituency in Austria.

Inquiries: more powers for the EP?

A closer look at the European Parliament's struggle to become more alike to national parliaments or the US House of Representatives by gaining the right to investigate other EU institution's presumed wrongdoings even when those disagree.

A European Divorce With Children

In the German Saar region, close to the French border, I discovered how a divorce can be even more painful when the partners are of different nationalities, when there are children involved - and when German law applies. Many thanks to Marie Galimard-Geiss, who devoted us the better part of a day and allowed insight into her family's drama.

I am especially grateful to Hugues Wajnsztok, who did an excellent job on this as a cameraman as well as an editor.
The sound editing was done by Arnaud Riedinger, and he also did a pretty neat job.
A shortened version of this report was used as a VNR in this "7 Days" programme.

News Double Feature

It was a first for me, and also for EuroparlTV: Two news reports on the same day made by a single journalist. It all went well, thanks to the great help of Denis. I would also like to thank Jo Gillette for her voice on the 112 programme and Mark Vandestraten for innovative approaches to recording interviews.

Jobless in Germany

There is a harsh reality behind the new German Wirtschaftswunder: Whoever finds himself without a job in Europe's strongest economy is at risk of precarisation. I went to Berlin and Cologne to find out how it all fits together.

This Report was also broadcast as a VNR in this Magazine, and it seems that it didn't go down too well with Andreas Schwab, the German Christian-Democrat MEP who was questioned on it

Presidential Home Town

A few days before Martin Schulz, then the Persident of the Prgogressive Alliance of Socialists and Democrats in the Europan Parliament (for the convenience of it also known as "the S&D" or simply "the Socialists") was elected President of the Parliament, I had an occasion to visit him in his home town of Würselen, close to Aachen and the three borders between Germany, The Netherlands and Belgium.

There were four more camera teams after Mr. Schulz at the same time, plus a number of newspaper journalists, so it was a bit of a challenge - especially for Pierre, who did an excellent job at finding the right camera angles.

Update July 2012: As I just learned, this is the currently the most-watched programme in the history of EuroparlTV!
