Jobless in Germany

There is a harsh reality behind the new German Wirtschaftswunder: Whoever finds himself without a job in Europe's strongest economy is at risk of precarisation. I went to Berlin and Cologne to find out how it all fits together.

This Report was also broadcast as a VNR in this Magazine, and it seems that it didn't go down too well with Andreas Schwab, the German Christian-Democrat MEP who was questioned on it

Presidential Home Town

A few days before Martin Schulz, then the Persident of the Prgogressive Alliance of Socialists and Democrats in the Europan Parliament (for the convenience of it also known as "the S&D" or simply "the Socialists") was elected President of the Parliament, I had an occasion to visit him in his home town of Würselen, close to Aachen and the three borders between Germany, The Netherlands and Belgium.

There were four more camera teams after Mr. Schulz at the same time, plus a number of newspaper journalists, so it was a bit of a challenge - especially for Pierre, who did an excellent job at finding the right camera angles.
